Overview

To backup your e-mail or reduce your mail quota on the mail server, you need to move files (e-mail messages) from the server to your local computer.

Create a Folder on Your Local Computer

  1. Select the local Eudora folder by clicking on Eudora.

  2. From the Mailbox menu choose New.
Result: A window appears prompting you to provide a name for the new mailbox.

  3. Enter the name for the new mailbox (e.g.,"backupmail") and click OK.
Result: The new mailbox will appear in your local Eudora mailbox hierachy.

Move E-mail from the Server

  1. Select the e-mail on the mail server that you wish to move to your local computer.

  2. From the Transfer menu select the mailbox name where you want to move the mail (e.g., "backupmail").

Result: The selected mail will be moved from the mail servers to the new mailbox on your local computer.

Note: We recommend keeping current backups of all your data. It is a good idea to copy the Eudora mailboxes located on your local machine to an external device (e.g., CD-RW , USB external drive, USB flash drive, TSM backup etc).

Additional information on how to move and back up files is available on the Eudora web site.
